Lean Manager / Engineer

A key supplier of premium food products to retailers in Ireland and the UK is seeking to appoint a Lean Manufacturing Manager to their business. Reporting to the Site Manager this role will be responsible for leading and deploying the site’s Lean strategy best practices within the production process.

Role Responsibilities:

• Ensure optimum application of Lean Manufacturing strategies and tools
• Evaluate improvements that need to be made and create value analysis
• To confer with senior and related personnel to create a smooth path for New Product Introduction
• Lead and facilitate continuous improvement activities
• May assist technical support teams in testing new applications and problem solving techniques
• Lead the training and development of operations staff
• Participates/facilitates in relevant events
• Give direction in preparing layouts to create a flow in production areas using Lean philosophy
• Balance the work flow to increase the productivity and incorporate quality checks
• To ensure increased efficiency and quality & make recommendations as to how these can be realised
• Review the production areas for potential safety hazards and makes sure that all the safety practices are being followed
• Determine the root cause for system inefficiencies and failures and deliver appropriate changes in the relevant processing methodologies
• Involved in preparing documentation for the improved processes, ensuring the product designs manufactured are up to the standard levels

Key Experience and Skills needed:

• Training in Lean/6 Sigma principles – Black Belt certification preferred
• Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of effectively managing change projects
• Experience in leading cross-functional process improvement teams, preferably in a dynamic and fast moving food environment
• 5+ years’ experience in engineering, project management, process improvement or other related area
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills required
• Must be able to demonstrate a quantifiable track record of improvement – quality & efficiency
• Strong analytical skills
• Must be able to become a change agent and positively influence others
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Proven experience in strategic planning and risk management
