The Role:
To develop and implement Category strategies that will create an impression at the point of purchase and deliver category targets in relation to sales, marketing and retailer strategies, consumer and customers’ needs. You will use insights and experience to identify opportunities for growth.
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop advanced understanding of consumer category shopping behaviour
- Ensure strategy and tactics are regularly presented externally & internally that support innovation and company initiatives
- Converting brand and category opportunities into selling propositions
- Examine data to ensure an in-depth understanding of category & promotions
- Deliver continuous insight through performance monitoring
- Create, develop and deliver regular category updates for internal & external stakeholders
- Implement category approach to all NPD
- ‘Own’ the category management agenda at meetings, turning insights into actions for the sales, business operations and shopper teams
- Bring the shopper & consumer view to the internal team aiding the delivery of innovation launches, promotional plans and JBP planning
- Category expert & have a in depth understanding of the market place
- Coaching/development of the category manager in general category management responsibilities relevant to their function
Key Skills and Experience:
- A highly numerate and strategic thinking individual with the ability to analyse market, category data to identify key trends and recommend creative solutions
- Strong analytical, presentation, and communication skills
- Expert understanding of key customer dynamics in grocery retailing and of consumer marketing and manufacturing within an FMCG environment
- Highly organised with good planning skills and the ability to manage cross functional category projects
- Developed interpersonal skills
- An ability to present and influence internal and external people at senior levels
- Good leadership and coaching skills
