Location: Dublin, Kildare
The Role:
This role is a new position with a well established and innovative European Food Manufacturing Group. This role will be focused on driving product innovation through the business. Manage and develop existing/new products in line with the company’s NPI process and be responsible for driving the success of these products. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, this role will work closely with the NPD division within the business with the ultimate aim of leading all product development for the brand to capitalise on market position and in addition, manage the development of Own Label opportunities in Ireland.
Role Responsibilities:
- To lead the innovation agenda for the business that is clearly aligned to marketing strategy to meet consumer requirements
- To develop an understanding of and manage manufacturing, technical and process capabilities with all external suppliers
- To support the Marketing function in providing expert knowledge on product design
- To identify new areas of opportunity to support the ongoing success of the business
- To be responsible for the Product Development NPI Function
- Assist Marketing Manager with packaging agenda
- To lead & manage the Own Label (OL) Product Development Strategy for each customer
- Understanding of Own label development within the business and clear guidelines for brand v’s own label development
- Management of measuring system to monitor existing product quality and improvements with Technical function. Any actions needed are communicated to the appropriate team
- Keep up to date with culinary, dietary and new processing trends
- Develop strong trusted relationships with major retail clients
- Liaise with procurement and technical departments regarding the identification and sourcing of raw materials
- Lead or work within multi-disciplined teams on a range of projects
- Ensure samples are produced to a high standard and on time
- Manage all resources in a flexible way to ensure delivery of objectives in a very fast reacting environment
- Participate and deliver in specific projects to reduce product costs
Key Skills and Experience required:
- 3+ years’ experience in product development including culinary experience, food process, food science
- Degree in Consumer Studies, Home Economics, Food Technology or other relevant discipline
- Experience in culinary development, cost management, food technology, category management and project management
- A thorough understanding of new product development process ideally within the FMCG marketplace
- Be passionate about food, innovation and understanding market trends
- Strong commercial awareness
- Ability to be creative when delivering innovative product solutions
- Excellent communication skills
- Good organisational skills
