Procurement Manager

This role will focus on the setting up, organising and delivering a procurement strategy and corresponding plan for the Company. The person will report to the Finance Operations Manager.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Set up and organise the Business Unit Procurement organisation with regards to strategy & structure
  • Assure medium term and annual procurement plans are in place
  • Track and analyse value, validate procurement performance results and participate in performance improvement
  • Communicate to the relevant stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Carry out annual portfolio analysis of all operational and capex spend
  • Provide new and innovative approaches to key spend categories and deliver outstanding category strategies to ensure maximum value and savings
  • Lead cross functional teams to develop strategic approaches with the business and to deliver improvements
  • Develop the procurement function to the required level
  • Give leadership and motivate people
  • Manage a team of 1-2 people in addition to project managing cross-functional project teams
  • Align with the processes and approaches; engage in key projects and deliver reports as required

Key Skills and Experience needed:

  • A Business or Engineering qualification at bachelor level is required. A University (masters) or MBA level of education is desirable
  • An understanding of different industries, businesses and cultures
  • Procurement experience (7 years +) in business and commercial roles, preferably in different organizations, with at least 5 of those in Strategic Category Management
  • An understanding of Procurement and Procurement Transformation programs
  • Strong commercial knowledge
  • Program and project management knowledge
  • Consultancy skills and an understanding of change programs
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement programs (e.g. Lean 6 sigma)
  • High ability to work with ERP systems and excel
  • Significant experience of managing indirect spend categories is preferred
  • Experience in driving significant change
  • Good knowledge and experience of implementing best practice procurement and supplier management approaches
  • Demonstrate superior interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills
  • 5+ years of team management experience including specific examples of key successes in development of team members
  • A determined and ambitious attitude and approach
